- Introduction to the theme/topic, opportunity for discussion
- Body scan - bringing awareness to the body from head to toe, mindfully relaxing muscles and removing tension
- Guided meditation - created (or personalized) by me
- Silent meditation (Stillness) - between 7 -12 minutes of stillness, sometimes with soft music, sometimes in silence
- Conclusion - returning focus to the theme and offering "closure" to the meditation experience
- Reflection - allowing you some time to journal or to rest and digest your experience

Introduction to Meditation Workshop

- Learn the basic science, philosophy and practice of meditation. Develop a solid personal practice, sit in ease, and bring balance, concentration, strength and calm into your body and your life.
- The atmosphere is cozy and informal, but still structured.
- We begin with a breathing exercise.
We discuss the science of meditation-fight or flight, the physical and emotional effects of stress on the body and brain. Discover how a meditation practice can help you learn to embrace stress and the benefits of meditation for your body and mind.
I will guide you through a short body scan before sharing some different meditation philosophies and historical perspectives. - I will then outline some types of meditation that you can use as you develop your own practice.
There is plenty of time for Q & A and discussion.
